Homes and Neighbourhoods
Dear applicant,
We’re delighted that you are interested in becoming our next Chair and hope that you find the information on our microsite helpful.
The last two years have been busy for Home and Neighbourhoods. Since transferring into the Council, we have focused on our top priority – keeping our tenants, safe.
The delivery of our vision is underpinned by our service strategy which places tenants at the heart of everything we do with investment plans that are focused on driving improvements in the tenants’ experience of our services, the safety of the homes our tenants live in and investment in the quality and sustainability of the housing stock. Our ambitions for the culture we wish to see are driven by the following service excellence principles:
• Experience of the tenant comes first
• Exceptional, place-based service delivery
• Communicating well and working with tenants
• Empathy and respect for all tenants
• Learning from and putting right our mistakes
• Letting tenants know who we are
• Exceeding expectations and making a lasting impression
• Not what we can’t do, but what we can do
• Contact with tenants is always an opportunity for feedback
• Ensure we do what we say we are going to do.
The Board
Our Board is made up of 11 non-executive directors (4 independents, 6 elected members and 1 tenant who is the Chair of the Tenant Voice Panel) who provide strong, focused governance and oversight on behalf of our customers. They bring independence, impartiality and a breadth of experience and specialist knowledge to the organisation.
We are now seeking to strengthen our Homes & Neighbourhood Improvement Board, by appointing an exceptional, innovative Chair to lead a steadfast vision to serve our tenants and provide a ‘world class’ service aligned to the corporate values of Kirklees Council.
With excellent housing sector knowledge and experience of in chairing strategic partnerships, you will inspire and influence change, evaluate risk and a provide a considered roadmap of the future landscape for housing across Kirklees, while inspiring trust and have the interest of our residents at your heart.
You will work closely with Elected Members and provide assurance to the Cabinet that the Board is run in a legal and regulatory compliant manner, therefore an understanding of governance arrangements and financial complexities associated within local authority settings would be desirable.
If you feel that you have the skills and the track record required and can combine this with a real sense of ambition for the board, council and the borough at this exciting time, we would love to hear from you.
Best wishes
Naz Parkar
